Who runs the Crew?
The Calico Crew is a Pirates & Pirate Island fan site owned and run by Escape This. What’s fact, what’s fiction, and where to sail.
The Calico Crew is owned and run by Escape This, the company that designed, built and runs Pirates and Pirate Island. Escape This is Australia’s largest escape room operator, and runs its own escape room design studio and escape room factory in Australia. It has venues in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, has hosted more than 500,000 players and has earned 17,969 five-star reviews.
We made a fan club for our own pirates because they have fans, the captain keeps a log, his first mate keeps a secret one, and the parrot knows more than both of them.
What’s real and what isn’t
Real: the Set Sail page, venues, opening dates, ages, group sizes, the photos of the sets and anything marked “On the record”. These come from Escape This.
Made up: the captain’s log and Scarface’s journal (written in character), Lottie’s watch book, Duchess, Cookie, Lottie, Madame Coralie, the legends, the Spyglass Gazette and anything marked “Legend has it”. No real pirates, ships or voyages appear.
