Fair, Not Easy
Friday. A clever-looking crew asked me today how hard the shanty is, in a way that suggested they thought it would not be very hard at all.
The management says seven out of ten, and I would not argue. The captain hides things like a squirrel hides nuts: everywhere, all at once, and then forgets half of them. But nothing in here is unfair. Everything a crew needs is in the hut. I checked. Twice. Possibly three times.
The clever-looking crew went in quiet and came out humble. The crew after them, a mixed bunch who had never done an escape room, talked the whole hour and found the treasure with time to spare. It is not about being clever. It is about telling each other what you have found.
And if a crew gets properly stuck, they only have to ask, and a hint comes. Sometimes, between you and me, it sounds a lot like me.
The captain says his hideout is ten out of ten. He says that about his hat as well.
